Engagement Ring Trends of 2025

However much we try not to be swayed by fashion trends, it's hard not to be somewhat aware of them. Whether it's the latest celebrity proposal or your favourite influencer - the kind of engagement ring other people wear makes a big impact on what we may be inspired to choose for ourselves.

2025 has had us as busy as ever creating bespoke engagement rings for our customers. While every couple comes with unique tastes and design ideas we have noticed a couple of styles that have been requested the most.

1. Art Deco Inspired

Known for their striking bezel that highlights the angular shape of the centre stone.

Art Deco inspired engagement rings are loved for their vintage-feel, strong lines and low settings.

Popular gemstone cuts our customers choose for Art Deco rings include:

  • Emerald cut (top left)
  • Octagon cut (top right)
  • Radiant cut (bottom left)
  • Asscher cut (bottom right)

A striking halo or stepped shoulders bring the centre stone to life to create a ring that is guaranteed to turn heads.

4 styles of art deco rings with both coloured stones and diamonds

Pros:

  • Bezel Setting: the soft bezel setting makes the top of your ring a lot smoother = less chance of it catching on clothes. It is also the safest setting for your gemstones as they are secured by metal on all sides.
  • Low Setting: Often Art Deco rings will be set lower so that they flow effortlessly as one piece - this offers a chance to be creative with a jigsaw fit wedding band.
  • Striking Appearance: The Art Deco style lends itself well to the use of coloured stones - the bezel setting enhances the stones intricate colour and sparkle.

Cons:

  • Low Setting: It is worth considering what style of wedding band you'd have with your engagement ring - although optional - if you do have a low set ring this means you will have to have either a wishbone or jigsaw-fit style band.

2. Toi et Moi

The Toi et Moi engagement ring has been growing in popularity over the last year. An incredibly versatile style that compliments a wide range of gemstone cuts.

A lot of our custom creations have featured an element of remodelling in which a customer will already have a gemstone they want to incorporate into the design. Making this style a stunning option for a sentimental piece; blending past, present and future.

Toi et Moi engagement ring pairings we've made include:

  • Yellow Sapphire and Diamond (top left)
  • Double Diamond (middle left)
  • Morganite and Diamond (bottom left)
  • Blue Sapphire and Diamond (top right)
  • Tourmaline and Diamond (bottom right)

"These rings were designed to symbolize two people coming together as one. Each stone in the ring represents one half of the couple, highlighting the union and balance between the two people. "

3. Celtic and Nature Inspired Settings

We've seen a big rise in the nature inspired engagement ring settings with our customers asking to incorporate leafy foliage, vine like baskets or petal style settings.

The room for creativity is a plenty with nature inspired settings - you can choose to either:

  • Have the metal weave and intwine with the gemstones.

  • Create leaf like cut outs (or infills) that make up the stone setting.

  • Delicate petal leaves that make the underside of the rings basket.

Each design differs depending on the gemstone arrangement meaning you'll have a completely unique engagement ring!

*Fun Fact* Our customers often ask to incorporate Celtic patterns to their engagement ring to have ties to their Celtic heritage.

4. Accent Stones

Accent stones are essentially smaller gemstones that are added to a larger gemstone to enhance the overall look of the engagement ring.

Accent stones can refer to any additional gemstones that are added to an engagement ring e.g a trefoil or halo of diamonds. They are also more commonly known as 'side stones' which indicate a single smaller gemstone on either side of a bigger gemstone.

We've seen a big rise in the three stone engagement ring over the last 6 months. It incorporates the classic feel while adding an opportunity to incorporate a mix of diamond and coloured gemstones.

Popular accent stones include pear cuts, baguette cuts, tapered baguettes and emerald cuts.

5. Yellow Gold Solitaire Engagement Ring

After growing greatly in popularity last year - both the yellow gold and single stone (solitaire) engagement ring are here to stay. The firm favourite amongst couples for their timeless and modern feel.

Whilst oval diamonds saw the most demand last year - chosen for their elongated shape and soft curves that blend smoothly into a gold band - people have been looking to other diamond cuts this year for their solitaire engagement ring.

Pear cut diamonds and marquise cut diamonds are being requested more, with the classic round brilliant cut (RBC) diamond still a popular choice.

While the singular stone is simple - don't be fooled, there are countless ways of customising the engagement ring design to be totally unique to you:

  • A bezel setting adds a clean border around your stone that enhances the diamonds natural shapes.
  • A decorative claw setting or pigeon style claws are an excellent way to enhance the statement of your diamond.
  • A geometric basket (shown above) is a unique way to create the illusion of a bigger stone - the diamond appears to be floating above a beautiful frame of metal.

While trends do somewhat influence our decisions (take The Wed's article on this year's trends according to Pinterest), it's worth making sure you are choosing an engagement ring that is right for you and that you will love for a lifetime.

Here are some quick tips to figuring out your dream engagement ring:

Use Instagram and Pinterest to find engagement ring styles that interest you - independent jewellers often have a unique style to their creations so find accounts your inspired by and give them a deep dive. (Don't forget to save your favourite looks!)

Consider what kind of shaped stones you're attracted to - do you prefer angular shapes or soft curves? Then consider colour - do you want a white gemstone like diamond or moissanite or is a coloured stone more you?

Do you want an engagement ring that is wed-fit or low-set? This is important to consider as it will effect whether your wedding band will sit flush to your engagement ring.
